DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – The Boozer family legacy will live on within the Duke men’s basketball program.
Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twin sons of former Duke standout Carlos Boozer, announced their commitments to the Blue Devils in a Friday video posted on The Players’ Tribune.
Both chose Duke over offers from Miami and Florida, among many others. They elected to follow their father’s footsteps and suit up for the Blue Devils after taking visits to all three schools in late August and early September.
Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward who’s widely considered a future top-five NBA Draft selection, is the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. Cayden, a 6-foot-4 point guard, is also viewed as a top-25 recruit and could land somewhere as a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The brotherly duo marks the first commitments for Duke head coach Jon Scheyer in the 2025 class.
Cameron gained national recognition following the 2022-23 season at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, leading his team to a 26-4 record as well as the Class 7A state title. He earned the Gatorade’s National Boys Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 21.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and two blocks per game.
Meanwhile, Cayden also left quite a significant impression on the court, scoring over 14 points per game while snagging 4.2 rebounds and dishing out 5.6 assists per contest in his three years on the varsity level.
Both have led their school to a state championship in each of their first three years in high school with their eyes set for a four-peat in the spring of 2025.
Carlos Boozer became a force to be reckoned with during his three years playing for Mike Krzyzewski, racking up more than 1,500 points and being a valuable member of the Blue Devils’ 2001 national championship team.
He went on to be a first-round pick in the 2002 NBA Draft, embarking on a 13-year pro career with four different teams. Boozer was named an NBA All-Star in 2007 and 2008.
Boozer expressed how proud he was of his sons during a recent interview.
“They made the best decision for them. Me and Mom couldn’t be any prouder,” the elder Boozer told ESPN. “It’s going to be a fun journey.”
