DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah, considered one of the best players in the NCAA transfer portal, committed to the Duke Blue Devils on Wednesday, according to a report from ESPN college football writer Pete Thamel.
Mensah, who helped Tulane reach the American Athletic Conference championship game, now heads to Durham with three years of eligibility left. He made a visit to Duke’s campus on Tuesday.
The redshirt freshman entered his name in the portal after a breakout 2023 campaign with the Green Wave, throwing for 2,723 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 65.9% of his passes.
He spearheaded his team to a 9-4 record and competed for a spot in the College Football Playoff, before dropping their final two games of the season.
This commitment comes at an opportune time for the Blue Devils, who lost starting quarterback Maalik Murphy after he also recently announced his entry into the transfer portal.
