Duke head coach Jon Scheyer has done a good job of picking up right where Coach K left off and in just 24 hours he’ll be leading the Blue Devils into the Sweet Sixteen for the second year in a row.
The Blue Devils hardly broke a sweat through the first week of the NCAA Tournament. The No. 1 seed in the East made quick work of Mount St. Mary’s, nearly doubling their foes’ score in a 93-49 win. Two days later, they similarly trounced Baylor, winning 89-66.
Duke face off against No. 21 Arizona tomorrow night in a game that the Blue Devils should feel supremely confident about. During the regular season, Duke beat the Wildcats in Tuscon by 14 points. Beating them in New Jersey’s Prudential Center should be considerably less demanding.
But Duke can’t afford to look ahead to the Elite Eight just yet. Arizona have proven capable of throwing down with the best that college hoops has to offer.
Ahead of the game, the Duke Cheerleading team is hoping to prepare just as well as the basketball team. Their most recent post highlights them getting onto the Duke plane for their fateful trip to New Jersey.
The team isn’t above mingling with opposing teams, as they demonstrated with a nice photo with the Oregon Ducks cheerleading team a few days prior.
It really has been non-stop performing for the Blue Devils as of late, as they’ve been waiting for what has been a constant tradition at the school: March Madness.
It’s worth noting that the last time the Blue Devils won both their conference regular season and tournament titles, they went on to win the national title (2010).
March may be nearly over, but the madness is still in full effect.
