DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – The rich appear to be getting richer in regards to the Duke men’s basketball program as Jon Scheyer and his staff collected another major victory on the recruiting trail this weekend.
Shelton Henderson, a five-star small forward out of Belair High School in Texas, announced his commitment to Duke on Saturday. He chose the Blue Devils over Texas and Louisville, the final three schools on his list, while also receiving offers from Houston, LSU and Texas Tech, among others.
Henderson joins fellow 2025 recruits Cameron and Cayden Boozer, as well as Nikolas Khamenia, as the four players who are a part of the already top-ranked recruiting class in the country.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound wing made a couple of visits to Durham this fall, including an official visit in September before returning to Duke’s Countdown to Craziness event in early October.
Garnering national attention for his physicality as a scorer, defender and rebounder, Henderson is the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He averaged 21.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game during his junior year.
