Duke freshman Cooper Flagg got a historic NIL deal ahead of the 2024-25 college basketball season.
Flagg is the first NCAA men’s basketball player to sign an NIL deal with Gatorade. Gatorade is super happy to have him sign this deal.
“Cooper is an incredible talent who quickly emerged as one of the best young athletes in the nation, and we know he has a bright future ahead of him,” Gatorade Global Head of Sports Marketing Jeff Kearney said, via The Chronicle. “At Gatorade, we work with the best of the best, so we’re proud to welcome Cooper to the family and are excited to be fueling him as his collegiate career begins.”
Flagg was the best recruit in the country in the 2024 recruiting class, per 247Sports composite rankings. Even though he’s a freshman, he’s expected to make a big impact for this Blue Devils team.
The Blue Devils are coming off a loss in the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. They lost to the NC State Wolfpack and finished the season with a 27-9 record.
They’re thinking bigger things for this upcoming season and they enter the year as the No. 7 team in the country.
Their first game will be next Monday, November 4 against Maine before they take on the No. 23 Kentucky Wildcats in their third game of the year on November 12.
