Duke legend Coach K has had the privilege of coaching some of the greatest college hoops players of all-time. But there’s one player he laments never getting a chance to coach: Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.
Coach K and Clark were guests on Sirius XM College Sports Radio for their Basketball and Beyond program. At one point in the appearance, Coach K started speaking glowingly of what Clark has accomplished in college basketball.
The Duke icon then gave Clark one of the biggest compliments he can possibly give, saying that he wishes he could have had the chance to coach her.
“You are so real. I would have loved to have coached you,” Coach K said.
Fans were floored by Coach K’s kind words and praised both of them for what they’ve done for the game of basketball:
“You are so real. I would have loved to have coached you.”

“What a great tribute to Caitlin from one of the best ever! What an endorsement. I liked that he would have loved to coach her. Be your best today and send them away smiling,” one user replied.
“And with today’s men’s and women’s doubleheader, the fact that the women’s game will follow the men’s when it’s usually the other way around is yet another example of how real “the Caitlin Clark effect” is,” wrote another.
“I don’t know how she didn’t cry during this. This is amazing!!” a third wrote.
