Clemson running back Will Shipley has been one of the best at his position for two years now and is putting the finishing touches on a solid junior campaign. But will Shipley stick around after the end of the 2023 season?
Speaking to the media this week, Shipley admitted that the thought has crossed his mind. But he made it clear that he’s trying to stay in the moment even though he recognizes that there are other opportunities beyond this season.
“Yea, great question. I think I’ve been trying to stay in the present as much as I can, especially with how the season has gone and what coach [Dabo] Swinney preaches to us every day, just being in the now,” Shipley said, via Clemson Sports Information. “But I’ve definitely thought a little bit about it. It’s something that is inevitable, just the opportunities that are there after this season.”
Shipley shares the workload with Phil Mafah and is currently second on the Tigers in rushing with 592 yards and four touchdowns. However, he makes more plays out of the backfield than Mafah.
As a sophomore in 2022, Will Shipley emerged as one of the best all-around offensive contributors in football.
Shipley finished that season with 1,182 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. His rushing, receiving and return abilities earned him First-Team All-ACC and First-Team All-American honors.
Will this be Shipley’s last year at Clemson?
