As Florida State tries its hardest to get out of the ACC, there are rumors that Clemson might soon follow suit and potentially join the SEC. But don’t say that to Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops.
Speaking to the media this week, Stoops was asked if he’d like to see the Tigers come to the SEC someday. But Stoops wasn’t in the mood to open up that can of worms, joking that it’d be “national news” if he commented on that.
“I don’t want to be reckless,” Stoops joked. “As soon as I say something, that’ll be national news.”
But as Marc Whiteman of WYFF pointed out today, Stoops has previously spoken glowingly of Clemson in such a way as to suggest he might recommend them for SEC membership.
Mark Stoops, who said Clemson reminds him of an SEC team, declines to comment on if he’d eventually like to see the Tigers in the SEC.

Clemson is the only program outside of the SEC to win multiple national championships in the past 20 years. Many believe that the program has all that it takes to be an SEC school.
Will Clemson ever be invited to the SEC?
