Before Rob Gronkowski became the greatest tight end in NFL history, he played college football for the University of Arizona.
During an appearance on “The Ryen Russillo Podcast,” Gronkowski was asked to share his best recruiting story from his high school phase.
Gronkowski decided to tell Russillo about the time he got a hilarious voicemail from a student at Clemson.
“My Clemson visit, I went absolutely ham at. Bless them for even hosting me that weekend,” Gronkowski said. “They probably thought I was the biggest idiot of all time, which was true. At that time, I sure was. I actually commit to the University of Arizona, and here’s the kicker, I get a voicemail. I must have gave out my numbers a couple of times that night.
“I listen to it and it’s some girl that goes to the University of Clemson. It’s like, ‘Hey Rob, I saw you committed to the University of Arizona. I’m gonna tell you this right now. You absolutely f—ed your decision up. We were all waiting for you down here in Clemson. Well, you have a good life. We’re going to miss you so much. But let me tell you once again, you f—ed up.’ I was like, ‘Oh s–t. What a voicemail!’ We thought it was the greatest thing at that time. I was in high school, so it was the coolest voicemail I got in my life.”
New recruiting stories pod coming.
