It’s been over a decade since the last time the Clemson Tigers started 4-4 and ESPN’s Paul Finebaum believes it’s the “saddest” story we have right now in college football.
Explaining on “The Matt Barrie Show:”
The saddest story in college football this year is Dabo Swinney and Clemson. There is not a single person outside of that area code who is feeling sorry. This is a coach who has thumbed his nose at the norms of where we are today. He has made countless mistakes and it’s now blowing up. I think the real question for Dabo Swinney and Clemson is can you get it back? I mean, these are not easy things to get back. Nebraska has been in the wilderness for 25 years. Other programs have been out there.
It wasn’t that long ago that Swinney and the Tigers were right there with Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide as the premier program in the sport. However, since falling out of the Playoff in 2021, things haven’t quite been the same in Clemson.
Seemingly as soon as NIL started, Dabo’s grip on college football loosened.
And now he’s facing what could be worst season since 2010.
