For the second time in three years, the NC State Wolfpack have knocked off the (once) mighty Clemson Tigers. After the game, their head coach had a message for analyst Steve Smith.
In a post-game interview, Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren called out Steve Smith for dismissing his team as a “basketball school.”
“Tell Steve Smith in the studio we ain’t a basketball school, he can kiss my ass,” Doeren said.

For context, Smith said that the Wolfpack were getting ready for basketball season during College GameDay.
“Clemson has been struggling. They’re not the Clemson that we’ve loved over the years. But NC State, unfortunately, they’re waiting for basketball to start.”

Whether or not that comment served as late bulletin board material, the Wolfpack got the job done.
NC State never trailed against the Clemson Tigers and forced quarterback Cade Klubnik into two interceptions. Their offense didn’t even have to do all that much but it still wound up being enough to make the Tigers pay for their mistakes and get the win.
The end result was a statement-making fifth win of the season and one that brings the Wolfpack within one win of their fourth straight bowl qualification.
That’s not a basketball school.
