It’s been a long and somewhat painful road to the NFL for former Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross. But he’s quickly showing in practice that this could be his breakout year.
During Wednesday morning practice at training camp, Ross was recorded making a brilliant one-handed catch. He caught the ball while draped in single-man coverage.
The play got an instant applause from his teammates and the crowd while the video has started going viral in minutes since it went up. KC Sports Network’s tweet has over 12,000 views in just 15 minutes.
Fans are already noticing that it’s similar to some of the big plays he made in college:

“Literally the exact play him and Trevor (Lawrence) had in the Natty (against Alabama in 2018). The exact catch as well…” one user pointed out.
“I’m a Jags fan, so when I was watching tape of Trevor a few years back I kept seeing Ross in a ton of highlights and I remember thinking damn this guy is gonna be special. Kansas City you got an amazing receiver,” a Jaguars fan replied.
“League breaking duo,” a third wrote.
A foot injury kept Ross from playing in his rookie season after going undrafted in 2022. But he seems like a prime candidate to be a breakout star in the Chiefs offense if he can regain the form he had while he was with Trevor Lawrence at Clemson.
