The AP Preseason Top 25 poll was released on Monday, drawing a lot of reactions from the college football community.
ESPN’s Heather Dinich weighed in on the poll during Tuesday’s edition of Get Up and thinks Clemson is the most overrated team in that poll.
“Clemson, why so much love for the Clemson Tigers? They had four conference losses last year, which is as many as they’ve had combined in the past six seasons,” Dinich said, via On3.
Clemson finished 9-4 in 2023 which is a good season for a lot of programs around the country but not for Clemson. Clemson fans are used to double-digit win seasons and competing for national championships and they didn’t get either of those two things in 2023.
In fact, 2023 was the first season since 2010 where Clemson failed to win 10+ games.
The Tigers are looking to prove Dinich wrong this season since they have quarterback Cade Klubnik coming back and still have head coach Dabo Swinney at the helm.
Klubnik finished the 2023 season with 2,844 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. It was his first full season as the starter after getting a little playing time in 2022.
The Tigers’ defense is expected to be a strong unit and they’ll be put right to the test when they open against the Georgia Bulldogs on August 31.
Kickoff will be at Noon ET.
