Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers appear to have gotten their groove back after a convincing win over No. 15 Notre Dame today. After the game, the Clemson head coach had a message for his critics.
“I know we are down. And everybody is throwing dirt on us. If Clemson’s a stock, you better buy all you freaking can buy right now,” Swinney declared after the team’s 31-23 win over the Fighting Irish.
The win over Notre Dame was Clemson’s first of the season against a ranked team and ended a two-game skid at the hands of Miami and North Carolina.
But while many Clemson fans for delighted to see the team get their mojo again, most college football fans aren’t ready to give Swinney his props jut because he got his team to 5-4 on the season.
Pros treating a 6-4 season like it’s a Super Bowl win.

At this point the ceiling for Clemson is a mid-tier bowl game. Even if they win their final three games, their best record can only be 8-4.
Four regular season losses are already the most by Clemson since 2010.
We won’t know until next year whether or not the Tigers’ struggles this year were a bump in the road or a sign that the team is on the downswing.
But for now, Clemson’s stock is up just a little bit.
