The Clemson Tigers are down three reserve players for the 2024 football season.
Dabo Swinney announced Thursday that offensive linemen Watson Young and Ian Reed and cornerback Myles Oliver are all out with season-ending injuries. Per Derrian Carter of The Greenville News, Watson tore his ACL, Reed has a lingering knee issue, and Watson has an ACL and pectoral injury.
Courtesy of The Clemson Insider’s Gavin Oliver, Swinney said the team currently has no other significant injuries.
“Right now, we’ve got three guys that are out for the year, and then we’ve got a few guys that I would say are just day-to-day,” Swinney told reporters, via The Clemson Insider’s Gavin Oliver. “But other than that, we’ve got a few guys banged up, but nobody else that’s out for the year or anything like that, or for a long period of time.”
Young, a three-star recruit from South Carolina, joined Clemson this year. His father, former All-American offensive lineman Kyle Young, is beginning his 11th year as the school’s Senior Associate Athletic Director.
Reed played 11 snaps against Charleston Southern while redshirting last year. The four-year recruit entered Clemson as the No. 47 prospect from Texas, per 247Sports.
Oliver enrolled as part of Clemson’s 2022 class. The 6-foot defensive back from Georgia has played just nine snaps in two games over two seasons derailed by injuries.
Clemson, which ranks No. 14 in the AP preseason poll, opens the 2024 season against No. 1 Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31.
