Former Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei heard his name called during the 20th round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected Uiagalelei with the No. 610 pick.
While this may serve as a surprise to many fans around the country, it’s worth noting that Uiagalelei played high school baseball.
Uiagalelei was considered a power hitter who can throw in the mid-90s as a pitcher. He ultimately decided to focus on football once he committed to Clemson.

Uiagalelei is currently getting ready for his first season at Oregon State. He joined the program via the transfer portal after posting his best numbers at Clemson in 2022.
In 13 games last season, Uiagalelei completed 62.1 percent of his pass attempts for 2,521 yards with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
If Uiagalelei isn’t able to elevate his NFL Draft stock this fall, he could always pursue a career in the MLB.
