Clemson (4-4) will take on No. 12 Notre Dame at noon ET today.
When they do, the Tigers will be without one of their top offensive weapons. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Saturday morning that all-purpose running back Will Shipley is unavailable this afternoon.
Shipley has been in concussion protocol since taking a hit in last week’s loss to NC State. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney labeled the former five-star recruit as “day-to-day” during the week, but Shipley didn’t make enough progress to be cleared for today’s game.

Shipley, a junior, is the Tigers’ leading rusher this season, gaining 515 yards on 112 carries with three touchdowns. He’s also added 20 receptions for 120 yards in the passing game.
Last season, Shipley rushed for 1,182 yards, picking up 63 yards and a touchdown in Clemson’s loss at Notre Dame.
Following consecutive losses to Miami and NC State, Clemson sits at 4-4 and is in danger of posting the program’s first losing regular season in 25 years. The Tigers went 6-7 in Swinney’s second season in charge back in 2010, but the final loss came in a bowl game.
Clemson and Notre Dame will kick off at noon ET on ABC.
