Clemson running back Will Shipley suffered an apparent neck injury during the second quarter of Saturday’s game against NC State.
Shipley was hit in the back/neck region as he was rushing with the football inside NC State’s 10-yard line. Some fans thought it was a dirty hit.
After laying on the ground for a few minutes, Shipley managed to walk off under his own power. The training staff was by his side the entire time.
Here’s the play where Shipley got hurt:
I don’t believe this was an intentionally dirty hit or play, but by definition is this targeting? pic.twitter.com/r6Y4yVEOvL

Collisions like this are just so painful to watch.
Shipley was escorted into the medical tent for an evaluation. There aren’t any additional updates on his status at this time.
Coming into this Saturday’s game, Shipley had 494 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 106 carries this season. He also had 18 receptions for 100 yards and two scores.
We’re hoping Shipley dodged a serious injury this afternoon.
