Former SMU and Arkansas head coach Chad Morris is currently an offensive analyst on Dabo Swinney’s Clemson staff this season.
Morris was at one time thought to be a potential up-and-coming star in the coaching profession, but the bloom is off that rose following his failed stint at Arkansas and as offensive coordinator at Auburn in 2020.
As Clemson was in the process of a stunning 28-7 loss to Duke Monday night, Morris began trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons.
“Chad Morris, special assistant to Dabo Swinney,” wrote 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello, using a Tim Robinson GIF to cap off the tweet.

“Chad Morris trending again? But for another team?” asked an Arkansas fan. “YOU ALREADY KNOW this is how I’m running to those tweets to start laughing.”

“Dabo realizing the Clemson dynasty is over thanks to his loyalty to Chad Morris,” another Arkansas fan added.

“Clemson brought in Chad Morris. Y’all did this to yourselves,” chimed in Arkansas radio host John Nabors.

“Is is possible that Chad Morris is simply a jinx? Wherever he is, bad things happen,” said another radio host, Mike Irwin. “Imagine what’s that like for him? At what point do you disassociate yourself from the entire sport?”

Morris is obviously not solely to blame for Clemson’s poor offensive performance.
However, if the Tigers’ struggles continue, he will remain a punch line for the rest of the season.
