Just about every state in the country – particularly the South – have multiple programs in the top divisions of college football. But somehow an entire state saw nearly all of its major football programs take a massive L in Week 1.
ESPN’s Ryan McGee noted that the state of South Carolina saw 10 of its 15 college football teams suffer losses in Week 1 – including seven of its nine Division I teams.
Clemson, South Carolina, Wofford, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, South Carolina State and Presbyterian in Division I all lost (with SC State losing in both Week 1 and Week 0). Only Furman and Charleston Southern won for the state this past weekend.
Over in Division II, Erskine, Limestone and North Greenville all lost their first games of the season.

On the plus side, a few of those teams are guaranteed to get some wins in the weeks to come.
Week 2 of the college football season will feature a handful of intrastate matchups as Clemson takes on Charleston Southern and South Carolina take on Furman. Of course, the counter to that is that two more South Carolina-based teams will also lose in Week 2.
All in all, someone’s about to find the silver lining and someone else is going to fall to 0-2.
